Could someone post his Facebook post from about a week before he was killed? It brought me to tears when i read it. What brave men!

"In uniform I get nasty hateful looks and out of uniform some consider me a threat."
How sad and a clear statement of life as a black cop these days. RIP, Montrell.

Gary Chambers, as predicted, race baiting on FB betting that there would be less than half of the showing for the black officer as there would be the white officers.

People blasting the jambalaya benefit happening at the same time of Jackson's funeral.

Just wanted to drop a line here. Montrell was a great man and friend. He was a detail cop where I worked for about 3 years and in our fantasy football league. Things you hear about him aren't exaggerated. He was a great man and someone I feel honored to call a friend. I hope if nothing else, his words carry weight long after the media moves on to their next story because he had it rough the last few weeks and all he wanted to do was be a difference maker in the community.

I'm streaming it at my desk. This is not easy to watch and compose myself. Montrell's brother had me

I didnt catch the names and such of who was speaking. Was it his brother that spoke about the motorcycle?

I also don't know who told this story but I loved the one about Montrell arresting a man who was pretty unhappy and resistant to being arrested. When Montrell got the man into handcuffs and into the back of is car, the man's whole demeanor changed. The man smiled and told Montrell how impressively clean his patrol car was and how good it smelled. The man said he had been arrested a lot of times and been in lots of police cars so he knew what he was talking about! Montrell's was the cleanest one ever. Montrell laughed about it as he later retold the story to others.

I always think it is so good for funerals to include stories like these. They make us smile or even laugh at a time when we need it the most.

The young man who spoke about the motorcycle was his little brother.

FWIW, the benefit was planned before the funeral details were finalized

Gary is a moron. I had some dealings with him about 1 year and a half ago and the guy is an utter clown. It's comical that this guy has anyone that thinks his views have any merit or that he deserves any kind of attention whatsoever. He is the epitome of everything that is wrong with media and preying on the most ignorant in our society.

I know very many black people. And all of them are distraught over this. By all accounts he was a good man and things like this should not happen to good men. This community needs to take this tragedy and use it for the strength to resolve these many issues and the good men and women of this city can and will do that.

There will always be agitators on either side who spew their form of fear and hate but humanity will prevail. We Baton Rougean's are better and stronger than this.

Social media should not be used as a form of expression that is really taken seriously. Hopefully people can understand that and take its usefulness accordingly.
