Ridiculous pumpkin themed things you've seen this year

Today, at a decently high end spa, I saw a sign on the window advertising a pumpkin facial. It was some chicks face with orange cream all over it.
Why do people obsess with pumpkin as soon as the calendar changes to fall (regardless if is there is actually a change in wheather)?

I was searching for a pumpkin bread recipe the other day and saw pumpkin stuffed hotdogs.
