Researchers predicting strong El Niño this year

My very limited understanding is that implications for the US would be more stable weather in the Gulf and Atlantic (less tropical storms and hurricanes), milder winters (cheaper natural gas and lower utilities), and rainier season in the Midwest (more corn).

Eta: had wildfires thing messed up, should be less of that

Eh, I was actually grabbed some stuff from home depot this weekend and they looked slightly malnourished. Maybe that's just the local ones though...

Get back with us if these clowns are even remotely correct. Every friggin year they predict 86 hurricanes, 52 of them major and all will hit the US and when it doesn't happen............crickets until the next year and the same predictions.

Implications for the US could include a great year for grain and soybean farmers and a chance to buy heavily discounted lakefront homes in Texas right before water water levels and prices go back up.

But it sucks for Asia, where crop damage is likely.
