The only time I have ever truly screamed in rage at my wife was after she swerved on a dark two lane road to avoid a squirrel/rabbit/something.

I smoked an 8 point several years back going 55 mph. The dumb shite decided it would be a great idea to make a run for it between a car coming at me and my vehicle. 4k in damages.

If you're the type to panic steer and lose control, yes you might end up in the woods. Unfortunately most drivers are like that, they've never learned how to do evasive action and stay on the road.
Every now and then you hear of some poor soul who has a blowout and steers all over the road in a panic when all they had to do was counter the pull on the steering wheel and get on the shoulder.
