I hate the beach
having said that, unless I'm working around the house/in the woods, I almost exclusively wear flip flops from like May 1st to September 1st

Chacos are the best option.
1) They look cool... (even the tan lines) when taken off
2) 99% of college co-eds wear them; so they are not pussy repellant
3) Unlike flip flops, they allow you to run on gravel beach or dive quickly out of canoe without fear of losing your shoe. And if you do lose your shoe in water...they float.
