They say that the government lies and changes items out that have inflated too high. If true, the OT members should have given their wives more money for groceries and bills because who cares if cost of TV is down, I don’t eat TVs

Every city subreddit is a far-left cesspit full of woke Millenials who rant about how “thE RePuBliCaNs are RuIniNg oUr StAtE.” This goes for r/NewOrleans, r/Houston, r/Dallas, all of those places

I don’t think anyone is terribly surprised at this.

If there’s a bigger whore and sellout in economics than Paul Krugman I’d like to know who.

Oh good. The rate of inflation isn’t going up as fast. Still doesn’t undo the inflation that has already occurred and still yet to come.

These people are such jackasses.

I put everything from a stick of gum to meals on a credit card. I’ve done this for well over 15 years. I usually just buy necessities. I haven’t done the exact math but 50% increase seems VERY accurate. And it hasn’t gotten better as of late.

It used to be Cost of Goods (COGI) and changed to Cost of Living (COLI).

The change was supposedly because if items get too expensive then people just won’t buy them - according to Russian economist A. A. Konüs.

Have you seen some of these revisions on job numbers? It’s pretty apparent they pull numbers out of their arse. Revising a previous week by a few hundred jobs, ok but they are changing numbers retroactively by a magnitude of 179,000 jobs.

The stock market can’t be stopped right now. Just goes up and up. There has to be something that would trigger a major crash but idk what right now.

Exactly. They hang their hats on things like eggs or chicken breast coming back down. But I can give specific examples of things families buy often that jumped in price after covid and have not dropped a penny in price:

Great Value
Light Ranch Dressing, Dill Pickles, lunch meat, various sliced cheeses
these are all all up 30-50%. It doesn't sound like much but Great Value dressings all jumped from $.92 to $1.97 around 2021. That's over 100%!

Lunchables are up 30%
Family Size Doritos and Fritos are up 35% since 2021.

All frozen things from french fries and peas to hot pockets and pizzas are up 35% and MORE.

Reddit banned every worthwhile sub back in 2017, and watered down the ones that stuck around to the point where they aren't recognizable anymore. That pretty much left them with 98% tranny libs sitewide

There's a marketing crash in the making right now. It's been the case for a while, but it's becoming undeniable with AI. General rule of the internet is that engagement drives revenue- companies pay for it based on views/clicks/etc. There have been content farms (imagine warehouses full of iPhones) in China and India for many years, and they're used to generate views for certain YT channels. Now with AI, anyone who knows how to run a basic script can generate views in the equivalent of a content farm in China. There are AI comments all over the internet these days. Some are pretty obvious, but it's clear it's extremely widespread

When you think about how much "marketing" and "information" (basically goes hand in hand) generates in the West, and then think about all of it is basically worthless now.... that's our crash

I think they have also revised virtually every jobs report down after the fact. It goes:

- Loudly release jobs report touting growth (with most jobs being govt jobs that add nothing to our GDP)

a few months later

- Revise down the report, quietly

I’m so glad that Reddit never appealed to me in the least. Seems like a collective of insane people.
