Get a 4 cylinder in whatever Honda or Toyota you want.

I'll probably stick with 6 cylinder, and nearly all of my driving will be interstate travel so I'll push 30 mpg.
An older TL will probably be my choice. I don't want to hate the car I'm driving 175 miles per day.

Honda Accord or Toyota Corolla.

Some of the Toyota Camry engines has a "zero valve clearance" design that required the timing chain be replaced at certain mileage intervals. Don't know which engines, or years, may not be a issue with later models, but a possible expense to consider.

My beater mileage car (2006 Nissan Altima) started giving me insanely pricey and ever-increasing problems about 2 months ago so I got rid of it and got a 2007 Corolla. Considering they're about equal in price currently (the Nissan is actually the higher end V6) I wish I would've done the Corolla from the beginning. It's got 185k miles on the little 4-banger engine but it runs like brand new, and I've yet to have an issue in it, when the last 2 Nissans I've had were money pits from the jump.
There's a reason the Toyota Camry & Corolla / Honda Civic & Accord are everywhere, and it's because you can't kill them if you try.

I have a loaded 08 TL with about 103k miles that I'll likely be looking to sell in a couple weeks once I figure out what I want. I'll probably be asking 7600.

I put around 3-500 miles on my jetta daily with work. Just hit 110k miles. It's a 2011, no issues at all.
