Looking for a recommendation on a good RC car/truck/buggy...whatever the hell for kid. We bought a remote control truck for Christmas that was apparently rather cheap. It broke in about 1 week. I recently went to a Hobby store and the cheapest thing they have is $200.

I was looking to spend no more than $100 for something that is durable and a battery that lasts awhile.

TIA

You might be able to get a used Traxxis from Craigslist, anything worth a shite new is going to be over $100.

Even for a young kid??

I swear I had a monster truck that i tried my damnedest to break as a kid, but it lasted forever. No way my parents spent the 1985 version of $100 bucks.

And, my kids are much better at breaking shite than me.

Will try craigslist...Thanks.

Yeah, I looked at some of those. Just looking to learn from others on what might work or suck.

I bought a ~ $50 truck at Christmas. IT broke within 1 week.

Spend crap, get crap. If you buy cheap junk from a toy store, good luck getting replacement parts when it breaks. Also, have fun getting any technical help.

I mean you can get tons for under $100 but they are gonna be sucky and the kid will play with it a few times. A Traxxis will blow his mind and be his favorite toy. Don't get one though if you are not somewhat mechanical though, you need to be able to tinker with them and fix stuff from time to time.

How old is your son? A REALLY cool toy is the Syma S107 helicopter on Amazon and its only $20 but I would say he needs to be about 7 to be able to fly it. Its a tiny helicopter you fly inside but it is AWESOME!

Look at ARRMAs.

My kids good at breaking anything and so far his is holding up. Also get an electric and update the batteries and motor later.

Ya you can make any car crazy fast with a lipo battery and a brushless motor.

There are many mid to full size monster trucks, truggies, etc., with brushless electric motors. Many are packages as RTR out of the box. We have 3 of the HPI nitro trucks but hose require tuning and other pita mtnce. I'd invest the $300+and get quality, solid, and near trouble free kick arse truck. The issue then becomes the differentials that seem to break and the spur gears that shear.

And the control arms, shocks, end links, knuckles and hubs that shatter into 100s of pieces when you hit your neighbors mailbox doing 40mph down the street...

Traxxas Revo 2.5R Nitro, here...

I have a few traxxas vehicles. Really great and durable. I suggest nitro models over electric.

I would always go electric. Way less maintenance than Nitro
