The Thames River has the most crossings of any river in the world. It has 200 bridges, 27 tunnels, six public ferries, one cable car link, and one ford along its 215-mile course.

The small town of Johnsonville in the SW corner of North Carolina is closer to 7 other state capitals than it is to its own state capital of Raleigh.

Johnsonville, NC - I assume (without looking) - Columbia, Atlanta, Nashville, Columbus, Frankfort, Charleston, and Montgomery?

The state closest to Africa is Maine.

West Virginia is the only state with 2 panhandles.

Place in Virginia is closer to NINE state Capitals

I love Geography, so I decided to look for a couple of minutes, and see that the far Southwestern part of Virginia is closer to NINE state Capitals!

White Rock Lake is the nation's largest lake to fall entirely within a single city limits.



The Great Trinity Forest is the nation's largest urban forest.



Both are in Dallas, TX.
