Random canine searches at high schools....

The high school and whole parish I teach in just had a random canine search. I overhear students walking in the hall between classes saying stuff like "that's an invasion of our privacy" and "the cops can't do stuff like that" and "they have to give us a notice when they plan to do searches"
I can't believe they actually think all that crap. OT thoughts?

They have no brains. Come back to them when they are 28. They'll have one then.

I never carried anything in school I couldn't eat on the spot.

They searched cars too. One of my classroom windows faces part of the parking lot and we could see them.

my high school primarily searched in the parking lots after morning rush and lunch

Went to public school. We had these almost monthly. Could always tell who was nervous about things in their car

I see parallels to the Ascension Parish thread.

We were always given two days notice.
Private school.
Private school.

Reminds me of the time in college where a couple of underaged students in Oakbrook were posting on Facebook (before newsfeed existed) about a party they were throwing at their apartment and calling themselves the party kings and what not. Police find out and raid their party and then they complain that it was an invasion of privacy for them to read their public Facebook profile.

Scared me shitless
I was in the zone teaching some pre-calculus, double angle and half angle identities to be specific, when I hear a knock on my door and open it to find 4 cops and 2 dogs, a black lab and a German shepherd to be specific, both of which were gorgeous.

smart kids parked in the neighborhood next to school and not actually on the campus parking

I doubt it. By then they will think invasions of privacy are not a big deal and only opposed by those that have something to hide.

Which is hilarious given how these dogs are typically just probable cause on 4 legs. They alert when the handlers want to get into something without a warrant.

Wish they still did it here. Cops say the dogs get too tired searching too much, I just wish they came around as a deterrent more than anything else.
