Are these worth the price over the Sams/Academy/Walmart play systems?

They certainly feel and look better built and sturdier, and the fact that they will deliver and install is a huge plus, but shite these things are expensive.

You'll be buying one of the cheap ones yearly, so figure out how long you need it for and if you feel like assembling one once a year

this is what I keep telling the wife

all the cheap ones that I see at my friends houses seems to be falling apart after a year and the kids don't play on it because of it

my daughter is 3 and we plan on having another soon, so I plan (read: hope) on getting a good 10 years out of this thing

I had one through two kids and then gave it to a buddy with the agreement he would come get it out of my yard. Had to replace the canopy twice and swings once. Worth it if you plan on having it a few years.

the more expensive ones are worth it IMO, check the other brands though, some of the nice ones are made out of coated metal and are very sturdy.

The Rainbow systems are SOLID cedar.

The cool thing about them is that you can always modify as the kids get older. You can add and subtract pieces, upgrade swings, etc.

The sky is the limit.

Just installed this one myself a couple weekends ago. It's a lifetime. Bought it from SAMs. Free shipping and after tax it was $1425. Took a couple days to put together. Wasn't too bad though. I just didn't want a wooden one because I knew I would be too lazy to re stain every few years.

You get one?

When the lady handed me the catalog I got a little sticker shock, but I'm coming around now.

The redwood ones...holy shite

I live in the suburbs of Chicago and our weather cycles from arctic cold to sweltering hot.

I bought a wooden swing set from Sam's for 1k about 7 years ago and it's time for me to get rid of it as it hasn't lasted and is ready to break.

My neighbor bought a used Rainbow system (3 years old at the time) at a garage sale and only had to change the canopy when he bought it. His set is holding up just fine and looks like it will last another 10 years.

I'd spend the dough and buy the rainbow if I had to do it over again.
