It's not overly expensive to have an attorney take care of it. I seem to recall it was around $500 when I had mine done. I'd go that route to avoid leaving any unnecessary problems behind.

Witnesses and notarized isn't the beginning and end of the requirements.
Louisiana calls handwritten wills "olographic". I think ever other state calls them "holographic".
