In multiple cities, the drivers that made Uber great have quit, and are replaced with clueless, terrible drivers.

Some of the reasons why they quit are the rates being slashed, riders giving them 4 or lower star ratings for no apparent reason, insurance situation, etc.

speaking of ratings, uber in BR is now making your rating available for view.

im a 4.9. thought i would be a 5.0

I have 3k to pay off my car, so I was thinking I would become an Uber driver so I could pay the car off this year...

So, I call my insurance to ask about how that works (since I work in the industry, i know there are all sorts of exclusion policies for using a vehicle for job purposes)

So USAA tells me that there is no way under any circumstances for me to be covered once I sign into my Uber app as a driver. I can not buy gap insurance. And, I can not purchase a policy. Any other drivers know what to do in this scenario. or is everyone just driving around at 2 am ... not insured? Was wondering if I could get a policy with another carrier for this scenario.

They(Uber) supposedly have a commercial policy that kicks in when the driver is pinged for a trip.

You probably didn't tip. What was your fare? If it's less than maybe $13 and you don't tip, prepare for your rating to take a hit.

I took 3 ubers last weekend and I had good experiences in all 3. Only 1 foreign guys and he was cool enough and played smooth jazz so I was good with him. One college age kid was good and then a very nice older lady who was sweet and a good driver.

Overall solid experience from a passenger perspective.

it should be coming up in your profile this week, per the driver this past week. its not currently on there

she showed us the screen they see when they come to pick us up. had me as a 4.9 but it doesnt show any comments or anything from the drivers.

I only used uber once, and my first ride was free but the driver still refused a tip

I'm sure they don't all refuse

If they want to actually make money (depending on city) they wouldn't refuse.

i usually toss them a few bucks, most say you know you dont have to do this, but i do it anyway.

there isnt a tip feature when you get dropped off is there? i never looks cause im usually too fricked up to remember. I wish you could just tap up a few bucks on the card.

That's where I'm at still.

They were solid gold for awhile, though.

lets say you have an accident while driving for Uber and their commercial policy covers the loss. The problem arises when your private insurance comes up for renewal.

Your company will review your loss history report and/or your motor vehicle record. If they sense even the slightest hint that a loss occurred while using your vehicle for livery purposes they will cancel you immediately.

livery is specifically excluded in your insurance contract.
