Usually I agree, but there is a lot more research showing that when you eat has a huge effect on your metabolic rate, and thus your weight gain/loss.

While extreme amounts aren't necessary, if you're trying to build muscle FDA recommendations aren't probably going to help you.

I started drinking chocolate milk post work out since October and I love it. I've seen gains in strength, size and endurance. Article with some science on why it helps.
