It's really not the end of the world. Are they the kind of kid that likes to sleep in on weekends and during summer? If so, I say reschedule that class ASAP.

Like KBeezy, I loved morning classes and finishing my day on campus early. I always had good parking spots and had all afternoon to unwind, get HW done, or work.

I have never been the type of person that sleeps in. But freshman year was crazy and I missed a lot of morning classes. 7:30 AM M-F is

I liked this in my later college years, when I stopped going out as often and had more of a stable balance between academics and social life.

But freshman year was a whole different story.

If I had one thing to tell an incoming freshmen is that it's to go to class every day. If you do that at lsu, you are ahead of the curve. Just having your arse in the seat takes away so much time studying outside of class.

Probably the best advice you can give. I never studied, but was pretty good about going to class... You can retain so much info just by sitting there and taking notes.

I've just always had a natural alarm clock in my head that doesn't let me sleep past 6:30 unless I've been heavily drinking or stayed up til 4AM (sometimes both ). Morning classes were fine for me, and I did them starting second semester freshman year.

Is your kid a morning person? Even if he/she is, it will be a struggle. But it doesn't mean they're as screwed like people on here say

I always had at least one 7:30 class every semester. You are safer with just T-Th ones.

Friday at a 7:30 class was tough after Thursday night fun.

I was usually done for the day by 12 or 12:30.

Get to campus, good parking, wrapped up by lunch then on to whatever.

This was me. I never had a 7:30 class though but plenty of 8am.

Yup. Spent many an afternoon at Mellow Mushroom drinking pitchers of beer when I should have been at a 3PM class

He likes his sleep, but he is much more mature and responsible than I was at his age. I have told him about my experiences and mistakes while at LSU and I had a lot of mistakes. I guess the good news about this we will know very quickly if he is capable of handling it.

I've always been a morning person with a similar "internal alarm clock" going off early in the morning. But freshman year involved lots of social events, procrastination, realizing I had to study more (and later into the night) than I did in high school, and adjusting to living independently and having more responsibilities.

Safe to say I hit the snooze button on the internal alarm clock once or twice during that first semester...and slept until (gasp) 9:00 AM!

Honestly, I would change it if possible just because it is everyday. If it was just a MWF or TTh, it'd be fine. Is changing the section a possibility for him?

My student has a 7:30am class M-F, that scares the hell out of me.

When I was a freshman in college, I had a 7:30 a.m. class. Naturally, I handled it in a mature and responsible manner: I stayed up all night high on amphetamine and walked into class wide eyed and ready to go. Hopefully your student will do the same.

Why on earth would anyone do that? That's just dumb.

i know he tried to change it but was unable to at that point. I don't know what his option would be at this point.

As someone who made this mistake as a freshman, don't expect better than a C in this class
