**PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL ANY OF HIS BOOKS FOR ME**

Im in the middle of reading IT, which is only my second book of King that I've read, 11/22/63 being the first. I noticed that Derry is an awful place, and he mentioned that some terrible events went down in 11/22/63. Is Derry supposed to be a place tied into his books or is just a coincidence of a place he likes to put in there? I see that Derry is fictional, but Bangor is a real location. Was Bangor and Portland just shitty places for him to grow up around and inspired him?

Fictional towns in Maine often tie in with real ones in his books. Im not sure if it is a personal connection or what.

Yes Derry is featured in a lot of his books, many of the books have slight connections with one another - and if you ever read his Dark Tower Series, you will see more tie ins.

IT is one of the best books ever written.

And yes. Fictional location.

You need to go read Salem's Lot, The Stand, The Talisman, The Shining, Carrie, and then The Dark Tower.

King is my favorite author of all time.

In his memoir "On Writing" (not really a memoir but nevertheless) he talks a lot about those little bitty towns in Maine and how he bases stories in them.

King has a universe where many of his characters and story lines are referenced throughout his works. There is no proper order to read the stand alone works due to the fact that he wrote many of them at the same time over several years. IT is my favorite work by him.

A lot for people hate it but I really liked under the dome until the end. It's easily his longest book. The TV showed sucked

They all have some connections. Think of all his books revolving around the Dark Tower

Yea I'm definitely going to read other works before jumping into the dark tower series. I love how he doesn't go into a lot of detail describing the physical characteristics of his characters but rather lets their past help you form your view on them.
