Question about Covenant Marriage in Louisiana

Short of actually contacting a lawyer (don't even know one), figured maybe I'd get lucky and the OT social lawyers would know the answer to this odd question.
When I got married 8 years ago, it was my understanding I entered into a Covenant Marriage. (Don't even ask why, etc). Well, as I look now into divorce of a covenant marriage, I see all the prerequisites to enter into it. I don't remember specifically documenting fulfilling these. I went and dug up our marriage certificate (the only marriage documentation I could find) and the words "Covenant Marriage" are nowhere on the certificate.
My question: If you have a covenant marriage in Louisiana is it specifically stated on your marriage license? If not, and there are supplimenting documents (which I don't seem to possess at this point), how do I go about discerning if I truly do have this Covenant Marriage?

Just give her half and move on.

Contact the clerk of court office where your marriage license was purchased and filed. They will be able to tell you because the additional documents for a covenant marriage would have had to be filed with the original marriage license

So you're saying its not necessarily stated on your marriage license that you entered into that type of marriage?

Sounds like you're fricked unless you can prove that you're not. In which it seems you can't do.

I think there is a box on your certificate to check yes or no for a covenant marriage. Look closer. Box 24
If your certificate is different, call the clerk of court and they will tell you.

Each parish marriage license is different. I worked at the ascension COC and there was a box on our form that asked if you were purchasing a traditional or covenant marriage license. The covenant license required extra steps (like premarital counseling) and extra paperwork that had to be notorized.

The only three covenant marriages I've had to deal with all involved guys who overmarried and wanted to have a better hold on the woman.

Enjoy going through heck if you did and didn't want it. There are usually strict requirements set to dissolve a covenant marriage.
In Arkansas it's required marital counseling and you have to live apart for two year.

This is the answer

IIRC almost no one in Louisiana opts for a covenant marriage, and there are so many hoops to jump through that you'd remember it if you did.

I don't even know what a covenant marriage is, but RIP half your stuff.

This. It requires pre-marriage counceling and a sworn affidavit from both spouses that they understand they are entering a covenant marriage.

Covenant marriage = that little extra security guys cling to hoping their new wife won't take a dick.

This is an easy fix. Call the Clerk of Court and have them pull your marriage license and appurtenant documents.
Good question about if it's on the certificate. Never had a client who entered into a Covenant Marriage. Always seemed to me like one of the more ridiculous bible-beater things my beloved State has done.
Wasn't it a lawyer's idea, at that? I remember Andi Carroll was always touting the woman who pre-visioned it, in a dream no less.
Any Paul Hebert brethren remember?

Check the Clerk's office and ask. You would remember the pre-marital counseling, unless everyone lied about it. Only about 1 in 50 "actually" have a covenant marriage.
If you do find out that you have one, keep in mind that you can still get "immediate" divorce upon proof of: adultery, other spouse committed physical violence on you or any minor children, or the issuance of a preliminary injunction AFTER the hearing on a TRO finding that the other spouse committed physical violence upon you or minor children. There may be other grounds, (felony convictions?) consult with a lawyer.

I thought everyone went through pre-marital counseling? We got married on the gulf coast but we're living in San Francisco up until that date. We were made to meet with some weird priest, take personality tests, go through counseling, did some stupid retreat a couple of times...then damn near repeated all of it with the priest down here before the ceremony. I've never heard of covenant marriage.
