Are you considered an LSU alumni if you graduated from LSU med school but didn't attend undergrad there?

I think the correct term is "Dr. Alumnus." This is what we prefer.

I think med or law school grads, or folks who earned masters or Ph.D., can fairly say they are alumni.

To me, when someone says he is an alumnus it implies that he earned a degree from the institution.

Perhaps by technical definition those who merely attended are alums, but I would think less of someone if he said he was an alumnus and I learned he just attended a while and dropped out.

I notice the alumni association asks on its membership application: "If you are an LSU Graduate, what year did you graduate?" But I'm sure they would accept my dog if he paid his dues.

Are LSUE, LSUS, LSUA graduates allowed to be fans of LSU football?

It's trashy to claim alum status if you didn't graduate from the school.

An alumni is anyone who attended a school. Don't even have to graduate.

While I do not agree with it, according to Webster's:

quote:

a person who has attended or has graduated from a particular school, college, or university

So, let's see. The dictionary says alumnus means
quote:

a person who has attended or has graduated from a particular school, college, or university

And "attends" means
quote:

to be present at

So, according to the dictionary, if you ever were on the LSU campus you are an Alumni? Am I reading this correctly?
