6 months ago I put down my 12 yo Golden Retriever, the best dog I have ever owned. Today we put down our 8 year old rescue. Tough to lose family members.

RIP - fellas

Sucks, I would be pretty depressed. You should get a puppy.

I have 2 labs and I dread that day. They are both 9 now and attached to my kids at the hip

Dysplasia plagues them. Not your kids, hopefully

I had to put down 1-13 year old and 1-12 year old dog in a period of 3 months...The second could not function without the first...it is truly horrible. I feel for you..it will get better with time.

This thread is depressing.

Sorry for your losses though. Losing dogs sucks.

Sorry man, I agree, it’s a loss of a family member.
In our experience getting g another dog helps.

Given the topic of this thread, pick out characteristics that will make your job easier in 10 to 15 years:
Can’t run fast.
Large white spot on forehead or crown of head for targeting.
Small enough that you don’t have to dig a big hole.

We did the same thing last year. Put our 14yr old dachshund to sleep the week before Mardi Gras then had to put our 6yr old beagle to sleep 2 months later. Best thing to do is go get a puppy. We got 2 almost immediately and it defiantly made things better. Plus you get even more attached to the new pups. At least we did. Sorry man.
