What mean to say is, what is it called when someone uses past experiences as broad and sweeping generalizations?

For instance, someone who's had a bad relationship involving drugs/booze/abuse and is super sensitive to *any* type of that type of behavior?

Basically painting everyone with the same brush at the highest level...

I was having a conversation yesterday with a buddy and he was saying it was "projection" but according to the definition, that's not *quite* it... I argued that it was "transference" but again, that's also l not *quite* it either.

Go.

It's called "I have something to say about everything because I am insecure about my lack of intelligence so I have to act like I know what I'm talking about all the time."

It's usually the empty wagon that rattles.

The technical term you are looking for is "wife."

I don't know the answer but then I never served in the armed forces. Maybe the level of pillow talk you two were having was beyond both of you.

Discuss mustard.

I knew I would get a lot of this stuff

But there's got to be a term for this action/behavior... Regardless of male/female.

Give me another example...I don't do well with word problems unless they have more numbers.

What you are describing is not projection. You are right in arguing that it is more like transference.

The term escapes me as well but what you are describing is very common in people who suffer from some type of anxiety disorder. Usually this results in the inability to trust someone fully for fear of being hurt.

This is a classic defense mechanism. I know that maybe that doesn't make much sense but it is what it is.

And just so we're clear here, I have a advanced degrees in neuroscience and biology so I'm not just spouting bullshite.

Not really a term, but a description." A heightened sense of apprehension."
