Tl;DR: They won't let you swap out an item bought on sale for a different size, spec, etc.

GF bought a new driver for me for Christmas during a black friday sale. Was very appreciative of the gift, but she knows nothing about golf, so the flex on the shaft was not right. Went to the Dick's in Metairie, and Bailey, the golf department manager, was very helpful in finding the same club in a stiff flex (gift was a regular flex). Brought the club to the register, Bailey inspected the club to make sure it's a legit return, everything is Gravy.

The problems started when the computer would not allow the cashier to do an exchange, was telling me that I would need to pay the difference in the sale & full price. Some manager comes over, and then eventually, the store manager. The full price tags are exactly the same on the two clubs. I explain to them it's the equivalent of switching a medium shirt for a large. Bailey comes back, confirms my explanation to them. The store manager at that point refutes myself and his golf manager, is very rude, and simply keeps repeating "if it's a different shaft, it's a different item". I've literally never seen the supposed "store Manager" of this large of a retail operation be so rude and dismissive of a customer. I didn't raise my voice or anything to them, just explained to them that I'm very frustrated that the only option they are giving me is to not do business with them.

So the club is getting returned, and Dick's will never get another penny from me again.

Should have walked out and just got in touch with corporate. Nature of the beast in retail, the higher you go up, the more likely you get what you're looking for.

I find it odd that if you get a go pro from there they won't let you return it once opened. At least they should let you return it and pay a restock fee.

Dick's in Metairie, and Bailey

I'm very good friends with Bailey's boss. I'll have this resolved in a minute.

Eta: were you the guy in crocs?

there is no difference tho, kinda negates the point of a sale if u have to pay the difference when u return it for something the exact same price

they are getting their original club back that someone will inevitably buy and giving him a different flex version. shouldnt really be an issue

Oh, I am not agreeing with the store policy, although it could very well make sense - I am just amazed that somebody would bitch about it and not just pay the fm difference And be done with it

Sounds to me like your boo scooped the driver no one else wanted hence why it was deeply discounted.... So yeah, definitely not like exchanging a medium for a large. More like trying to return an LS silverado for an LTZ if you will...

Never returned anything at Dick's, but their lacrosse gear is expensive, wait and buy local, for us.
