That floor looks great, I really like that color. However, I think your infant is going to need a mattress

She's set. Her room is well furnished. My wife made damn sure she was set way way way before she was born.

We put bamboo in the upstairs and stairways and Italian slate downstairs. The bamboo is light and beautiful, but it takes a lot of routine care and is TOO soft for heavy traffic.

So would woodgrain tile in the living and kitchen areas with bamboo in the bedrooms make sense? Or is it typically best to stick with one type throughout the house?

i have the ceramic wood-look tile in a den and the master bath. i like it and it is certainly durable. however, it's not the most practical for young children due to its hardness. i installed the tile myself with a friend who owns a flooring business. he has installed the lvt in his house. it looks better and feels much better underfoot. the floor comes with a 10 year commercial warranty. whoever said it wasn't durable is full of it. also, if you somehow damage one of the planks, it's not too difficult to peel up and replace. again, go with the commercial grade stuff from a flooring vendor, not home depot. if you go with tile, home depot does have some good options.

Thanks, I appreciate the input

Going to have to take a close look at the vinyl tile.. and yea, we aren't buying our stuff from HD, our contractor only puts down commercial grade flooring (unless his clients call for something else)

Just don't do tile in the kitchen, your back, legs, knees and feet will thank you.

I'm building right now, and we are putting in the PVC vinyl flooring throughout the house. Looks great and is waterproof. This is also commercial grade flooring.

We went with wood grain ceramic tile when we redid our floors about 4 years ago. I have a pool, kids, and three dogs (60, 65, and 150 lbs). One of the dogs plays fetch with a tennis ball in the house - sliding along the floor as he tries to stop and grab the ball.

The floor gets manhandled all day long, but still looks like new. Most people think it's real hardwood until I tell them (or they come in from the pool with their shoes off!). Best decision we ever met. I will never put down anything else.

Tell the boss you want wood grain porcelain tile instead. It holds up better.

Disadvantage to Pergo: Can be slippery for a large dog. A Lab or Golden might injure its knees as a result.

I just bought a house with grey driftwood porcelain throughout the entire home. Zero carpet. It is gorgeous, cleans easily. We love it.

That's such bullshite chart it's all false you can't have Janka scores with out the damn species! Bamboo no way in hell you can refinish that many times it's a grass not wood! You will get hammered on resale on all floors unless you do hardwood, engineered hardwood can be cheep and it can be expensive many choices. Make sure your installer knows what the hell he is doing if it's on a slab that they do proper moisture tests and get and keep copies of these tests, moisture barrier and glue demand wokol brand products if they are used you will get 30 year warranty.
If it were me I would go with quarter sawn and rift cut white oak 6-7 in wide select or better grade it's very hard and great looking wood.
