NYC was supposed to be underwater by 2012. So I don’t put too much stock in the alarmists.

New Orleans knows better than most that it has to protect itself from the Gulf of Mexico. Sea levels may rise - but we are stubborn enough to just keep building levees.

I don’t either, I just find it funny New Orleans is full of these people. And vote 85% of the time for those people. Yet they live in New Orleans, below sea level, and they think the sea levels are rising.

After another century of misappropriated funds, New Orleans turned into one giant pot hole.

I was looking for some pictures of Beale Street (surrounded by public land and parking garages) and then for some Detroit (but most are just wasteland with few people) and I saw the pictures others were posting and I bow, humbly, to the insight of others.

The only thing I'd add would be a Mississippi that has changed its path to the sea and the ditch by NOLA has mudded and silted up and the Yellow River in China is the poster boy for that sort of thing.

I'll only say this... it probably won't be on the mouth of the river anymore.

No way we hold the Mississippi another hundred years.

History will teach us not all cultures are equal.

Some are empirically better.

Nobody acknowledges it though.
