Look up lottery winner histories. I wouldn't say most, but plenty of them end up worse off than before

ETA: even some of the huge jackpot winners

People have no fricking clue about the investment opportunities that open up to you when you have that kind of $. Settling for a few % a year would be retarded financially, not to mention boring as frick. Oh, and to anyone that says they wouldn't change their lifestyle....

Exactly. You'd be worth as much as Peyton Manning, but nah not much would change and you'd still be chilling at your property in Livingston parish

Meh, at 7-9% a year your grandchildren could be billionaires without taking much risk

Assuming you bought every combination possible, and let's also assume that you have the only winning jackpot ticket. How much would you win? Of course, let's also assume you take the cash option.

I'm genuinely curious, if anybody can do the calculations, I'd like to know.

You would lose your arse

Not to mention, how ya gonna fund buying all those tickets? And what if it's a split pot?

I think you would about break even before tax. After tax you'd be 100,000,000 or so in the hole

- 175,000,000 combinations @ $2 each

Roughly $300,000,000 all cash payout

Even with all the ancillary prizes? There is at least another 60 million just by having all five numbers but not the powerball.

Put in my 2 week notice

Then do whatever the hell I want. Fish, travel, golf, party. I would never wear long pants again except for funerals or weddings.

Yeah but the odds are 1-170,000,000 or something like that. If it's a split pot on the jackpot, you'd be toast

Hell if I know how to fund it. It's a hypothetical.

And again, I am assuming you have the only jackpot ticket

I think the pot needs I be north of $800,000,000 before expected value on lump sum after taxes goes positive or buying every combination would be profitable
