Stay where you are or move east. Tampa is cool but not great. Why in the flying 2 shitty fricks is BR in the equations? Cause family is close by? They (or you) can get on a plane. Don't move to that shite hole.

Of those three, Nashville. Charlotte is another great option. Or come down here to New Orleans and let her teach inner-city chil-rens.

Biased opinion, stay. What does your wife teach? Elementary or secondary? Has she tried outlying cities like Murfreesboro of Lebanon?

Not enough information to provide an opinion. There is something more to this story. I've known few people unable to eventually land some kind of teaching gig.

I'd go with Tampa. and by Tampa, I mean St. Petersburg.
The charter schools pay even less than regular schools. RSD will eventually lose all that federal funding so that gravy train will be over. Wouldn't want to be a prospective teacher in NO.

Find her a job offer and then consider moving.

I would suggest not moving back to Baton Rouge.

Nashville or the beach or...Baton Rouge. If you choose BR then you're retarded

And you wouldn't have the BR traffic issues.

This may have been said as I haven't read the whole thread after the first few joking responses, but know she can interview and get a job in Tampa or BR while stil living in Nasheville, right?
Then you can pick the spot (or near it) where she actually gets the job instead of the one where you hope she might.

His wife isn't trying hard enough to land a teaching job. Nashville and the surrounding market is limitless.

Typical thread regarding Baton Rouge on a LSU centric site. I never understand the haters. BR is an awesome place to live and raise kids. Tons of teaching work from inner city (some people like that) to private, suburban, rural and university positions. IT did you say? Hmmm... IBM just broke ground on a major center downtown and is looking for employees. They are in the process of building multiple new residential locations for "young professional" couples just like yall. You have family here? Best reason yet. Because at the end of the day, screw people on the Internet, blood is what counts.

You'll get a lot of OT high horses, but the one thing you can't replicate is family. At the end of the day, your family is what matters most of the time. When faced with similar decisions I chose to stay in BR near family. You can't "grow roots" in a new place. BR may be a shithole to outsiders, but it's different if you're from here. Second choice would be Tampa bc I hate cold weather.

I agree with you.
Close to NOLA for world class dining
Close to the coast for fishing and water sports
Easy drive to great beaches (Fla Panhandle)
LSU sports
All the rest LSU has to offer
I can understand if it's not your preference but most of the negativity is over the top.
