How deep does it get there anyway? Also, that is where they found Mickey Shunick's bike I believe.

That boat landing always reminds me of the time Baton Rouge had a serial killer (before DTL was captured).

I drove by about 2pm and saw all the activity. I knew it wasn't something good.

Wonder how fast the boat was going? Or maybe the victim hit the pylon upon ejection and drowned?

A 31-year-old man drowned Thursday following a single-vehicle boating accident he was involved in with his father, Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi said.

Stassi said the man and his father were doing repairs to their boat when they crashed into one of the interstate pilings near the Whiskey Bay boat launch about 1 p.m Thursday. Both men were thrown into the water during the crash, he said.

The man’s identity has not been released yet, but Stassi said his deputies and agents with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries pulled the man’s body from the water about an hour after the accident.

Stassi said the man’s father was able to recover but his son never surfaced after the accident. The father was treated for minor injures at the scene.

Story is a little weird.

I suppose while repairing the boat they lost situational awareness?

And the boat was moving at a good clip during this problem?

Yeah, they aren't your average inexperienced weekend boaters.

You never know. It might have been a situation where they were working on the boat, knew it was heading in the direction, but thought they could fix the problem before it ran into anything and just made a bad judgement call.
