Poison Ivy recurrence

So I got Poison Ivy for the first time ever a couple of weeks ago. After a week of trying to ignore it it continued spreading all over my body so last Tuesday I went to the minute clinic and got the steroid pills which I just finished Sunday.
They seemed to be working and I thought it was over but then I woke up this morning with my hands itching again and tiny little bumps looking like they are coming back. How freaking potent is this stuff? Anybody ever had it come back after the steroids? Is it just a matter of having to get back on the pills for another week?

You usually have a reaction because oils on your skin are still there. Maybe you picked some up again. I've had success washing it off with dawn.

severe cases can last up to three weeks. Even if the oils aren't there, the reaction has to run its course. The steroids just cut down the reaction time.

Should not just randomnly come back. I would guess you touched it again or touched something you originally contaminated it with. Like clothing or the steering wheel.
And, if you dont know, learn how to identify it. Steering wheel would be my guess.
And to answer your question, yes.

The rash itself doesn't spread. You probably didn't get the oil off of you and it may be in your bed etc.

Poison ivy is horrible. If you think you've come into contact with poison ivy, it's important to remove the oil from your skin as quickly as possible. I've found washing the affected area with dishwashing liquid helps. There's also an OTC substance that helps to remove it, but it works best after you first show signs if exposure. Good luck.

Did you wash your sheets and clothes since you had it?

While we're on the subject...I want to say that nothing feels better than a hot shower pouring down on poison ivy.
It is amazing.

Go buy some zanfel scrub. It's the only thing that works. Seriously. Tecnu will remove the oils following exposure, but you're past that.

I am highly allergic to Poison Ivy. I have been fighting it for years and one of the few things that work for me is
a product called Tecnu.

Get some Tecnu. It'll get rid of the urishol oil. It's for the skin FYI

cover the area in olive oil, then wash off with dawn soap.

I'm going to save you some time and money. Get rubbing alcohol and a washcloth. Combine the 2. Scrub the rash till it bleeds. Wash again with rubbing alcohol. Boom your done.
It's going to hurt like a bitch but man up

Wipe down counters, computer desks. couches, or anywhere else you would have gotten the oil before figuring out it was on you. I had a similar thing happen once and remembered I had a chair with armrests that I sat in for a while after getting home and before showering, and the oil was on the armrest. After cleaning the chair it quit coming back.

Cortisone shot ftw. I get poison ivy 5-6 times a year. Get a shot and it's gone in a day or so.
