Criminal last week had an episode dedicated to Michael Sandlin and his Tiger Truck Stop.

I've driven by that place for decades wondering what the hell the deal was. Remember when he had like 6 at a time in there - including white tigers?

I'll run out of gas and walk before I stop at that place. Mike's enclosure by LSU stadium is one thing. I can't believe the authorities let him keep a live tiger in that fricking jail cell he calls a cage.

I truly hope the tiger mauls him and he bleeds out in the heat one day.

Oh, and before you call me an animal rights pussy, I have 6 deer heads and a way too many ducks hanging on the walls of my office.

No, you're right. There is a huge difference in the way LSU takes care of Mike and the way this guy takes care of his tiger.

I bet that tiger will ride around Death Valley for seven saturdays in the fall.

The podcast claimed it was a 3000 sq ft enclosure. Is that something we should care about?

At one point he had the most successful breeding program in the nation and supplied zoos with cubs.

Just saying.

Plus I could play with tiger cubs when we stopped there for gas in the late 80s. I don't go there now.

You do realize the same vet that takes care of Mike, also takes care of that tiger. It's still young, which explains it's size compared to Mike.

That's like saying, "Before you call me a racist, I have 3 black friends."

I'm not talking about having just the same vet. Daily living conditions are more of a concern to me.

Based on all the pictures I can find online, that habitat looks absolutely acceptable. Not sure why anyone is trying to shut him down.

Have you watched the video on the Tiger Truck Stop site? I saw a few weeks ago. They claim the facility exceeds the minimum requirements.

I stopped there last year on my way to the Texas Bowl. They were feeding the tiger while we were there. The tiger looked healthy and happy.
Plenty enough room for him to play, sleep, go in the shade (away from the public), and live a long life.

I'm with you. Never been to that place, never will. It's aimed at mouth-breathing hicks.
