My wife (NO pics) and I are looking into a trip to the Caribbean at some point later this year. I have never been and am looking for some help to get me going in the right direction. We are both in our mid twenties and like to do the usual going out and eating/drinking.

First of all, is it better to take a cruise or fly directly to a destination and stay at a resort? I've never been on a cruise but my wife has been on plenty and seems to enjoy them.

Secondly, any recommendations on the best destinations? I'm looking hard at the US Virgin Islands.

Fly and stay. As far as USVI, St. John is gorgeous.

Plane to Cancun. Ado bus to Playa Del Carmen. Stay near 5th street.
You're welcome

We went to Turks and Caicos (Stayed at Seven Stars) and had a great time. T&C has amazing beaches and water and very good restaurants. We didn't hit the bar night scene up though.

Going to Playa Del Carmen in June (Staying very close to 5th) and looking forward to that.

Ask her if she knows Dexter St Jacque.

It's expensive, but there is no better place to snorkel and dive than Grand Cayman.

Rent a house or condo on St. John. It's my favorite Caribbean island for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the area. We rented a jeep at the airport in St. Thomas and brought it over on the ferry. Picked a different beach to spend some time at each day and drove all over the island seeing the different views. Rented a sail boat for one day. Not a lot in terms of "things to do" but you won't mind. You can take ferries to the other US Virgin Islands if you want. I've been 3 times and looking to go again soon.

We're headed to Calabash Cove in St. Lucia in June. Heard some great reviews from personal friends, as well as online reviews. Looking forward to it.
