Thanks folks. All lined up. Will refer to these threads for tips on what to do. This is one of the best things about TD. Mostly legit info from real folks. Better than random, possible paid for BS from the interweb.

LSU plays Syracuse the weekend we're going. I heard there are at least two bars where LSU fans/alumni congregate for games. That'll be fun, too. Gonna represent!

Late to this thread but just got back from Chicago. We stayed at the central loop hotel. Very affordable right in the loop. It's also very close to many cta stops.

As others have said, do the architect river tour. Wrigleyville is a blast but go down early on game day so you can just walk around before the crowds get there.

I believe the LSU bar is called the Standard which is in the Wicker Park neighborhood. It's kind of a hipsterish hood but really great places to eat, drink.

Overall-awesome city. We loved it so much we are seriously consider future relocation.

Not sure what part of Chicago you were venturing into, but downtown around the loop was very safe and clean (both day and night). I know it has its rough areas, but generally speaking, in downtown (particularly around the Loop), you're pretty safe.

Agreed. I found the city to be very safe and from what I gather if you stay out of the south side you are fine.

Pretty much this, although if you get too far off the beaten path in downtown late at night, it may get a little sketchy. Generally speaking, if you stay where the tourist are, you're ok.
