Picayune Private School in a bit of hot water.

The Facts:
Three former students of Christian Academy of Picayune say they have recently learned that the school is not accredited by the State Board of Education and the diplomas contain forged signatures.
The Sun Herald reports that the head of the school, Candice Downey, told parents the school was accredited, though the Mississippi Department of Education has no record of it.
Downey's LinkedIn page claims that she has a doctorate from the University of New Orleans. However, an official at the university says there are no records of her at the school.
The Opinion:
What sort of dumbass parent sends their kid to a school like this? Do parents just not research things? Five minutes on Google could confirm that they were not accredited.

[quote]The administrator who forged a signature on high school diplomas she issued at a Picayune private school said she doesn’t understand some of the criticism being leveled at her. And the pastor of the church where classes were held offered a heated defense.
Candice Downey oversaw Christian Academy of Picayune. Earlier this week, she sent out letters to the parents of graduating students that said she’d forged the signature of the Pearl River County School District superintendent on the diplomas.
On Friday afternoon, Downey told the Sun Herald she’d opened the school as a means to help students in financial trouble who needed to graduate. She said she tried to get accreditation for the school, but when that failed, she said she didn’t know what to do.
“I don’t know why I did it,” she said. “It’s really a bad situation. I don’t understand how it happened.”
Downey admitted to forging the diplomas, but said it wasn’t her decision. She didn’t name anyone else.
She also claimed she is making financial amends to the parents.

Sounds like she just needs to hire some ex-Destrehan teachers and make this go away.

They are diploma mills. Parents send their kids there when they are in danger of failing out of public school.
