Phantom of the Opera is a sick and unromantic story that makes no sense...

A story about a woman falling in love with a murdering psychopath is somehow one of the most romantic plays of all time..Please help me understand what I fail to see in this dark and very twisted story...

Phantom of the Opera has the best music of any musical in history. Deal with it.

Somebody got dragged to the Saenger by his SO tonight and didn't get any road dome on the way home, so he now has an attitude about it.

The musical or the book or one of the movies or plays or what? Different adaptations incorporate different plot elements and themes. I'm only really aware of the novel and Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, neither of which really have Christine falling in love with the Phantom.

It's the romanticizing of killers as "mysterious and misunderstood". There's even a whole "fandom" dedicated to serial killers and mass shooters, as well as a term for it ( hybristophilia).

A beautiful woman who can be noble and see-through the outward ugliness to find true love deserves one and only one thing:

Cried everytime I saw it before the age of 16. Every thanksgiving or Christmas on Broadway for 10-13 years.

Even love the terrible movie.

Andrew Lloyd weber gets me.

The Music of the Night lyrics are a total panty dropper.

I like Angel of Music also.

It has badass music. It is dark, mysterious, and full of drama. It's a damn good musical.

As for Christine's relationship with the Phantom, I believe there is a bit of Stockholm Syndrome going on and in the end she really loves Raoul.
