Seems like a productive use of tax dollars

Instead of Change.org, the city should start a gofundme. If the 6,000 people that signed want to pay for, or go to Bourbon and paint it themselves, I'm ok with it.

Sure, why not? The degenerates and carpetbaggers have already fricked up the city. Might as well add another layer to the shite cake.

I absolutely think they would be ok with that too. The gay community is pretty good about organizing shite and being rich as shite

Because NO has much more pressing issues that are being ignored. 13 people shot in a single day 2 weekends ago. Streets are in disrepair. Police dept is undermanned. The jail is under a federal consent decree due to mismanagement. But we're worried about repainting crosswalks and removing 100 year old statues

I mean to be fair, it would probably take a few hours to paint some crosswalks and would probably cost less than $1.5k. You can't compare the problems that NOLA is facing with this.

You serious clark? A good business model if you are in real estate is to follow the gays. They will take a shite neighborhood and turn it into a nice new spot in 5 years.

They are the OGs of the gentrification movement

When those that sign up realize that Mitch will find a way to tack on 1.2 million in security and added OT expenses, a rainbow crosswalk will become less of a goal.

Maybe we can let them paint the concrete chunks left where the statues once stood.

You must not be aware of the cost of NOLA projects.

I don't get the need to "honor" gay people. Thought they wanted to be treated like everyone else?

Every drop in the bucket counts. I have no issues with this in theory, but public funds don't need to be going to it at this moment.

I thought Montrose was getting "gentrified" with straight hipster types and wasn't really the gay area anymore.

I agree there are more pressing issues. I say give them free reign to paint the crosswalk at St. Ann and Bourbon. No tax money to be used.

It doesn't really bother me. It's not like anyone driving down here knows what a fricking crosswalk is anyway.

Nope! This is highly unlikely! Limousine lobs love to spend tax dollars on pet projects while preserving their own bank account.
