Dude, you are a jackass. We will be getting Mike VII next month and they will no longer attempt to bring him into the stadium for football games. It might have been "cool" to see them bring Mike into the stadium, drive him around the stadium pre-game then leave his cage near where our opponents run onto the stadium, but you are taking a wild exotic animal into a small cage so that he could be driven around, inside a stadium packed with people, with cheerleaders sitting on top of his cage.

Do you realize when Mike roars, that is actually not "in real time"? At one time they use to poke him to try to get him to roar, but for years, the roar you would hear, when Mike would be in the stadium was actually a recording.

Now, with the habitat on campus, we are allowed to provide a Tiger that once likely lived in poor conditions, a home that emulates a Tiger's natural habitat while providing a unique experience of visiting a live mascot, which is a beautiful animal, most people don't see on a regular basis. As many games as I have attended, I never once thought that bringing Mike into the stadium as a "tradition". Because, even though Mike V was brought into the stadium more times than not, it was not always a sure thing or a "must have". The "tradition", in my opinion, has always been the idea of having a live Tiger on campus.

I'd like to know what the reasoning is why Mike can no longer perform this function.

most likely because its one way LSU can have a live mascot.

You want to intimidate your opponent, try doing it with a high powered offense and suffocating defense. LSU has lacked one or both for a while now.
