I once posted "will you answer your fricking phone" on a guy's FB and it was kind of embarrassing when someone pointed out that he had died.

So why are you still friends with dead people?
Expecting them to suddenly start posting again?

It would have to be pretty blatant attention whoring for me to shite on somebody that does this.

Not their fault it pops up on your timeline. it probably helps them feel like their friend is still there. i suggest taking a break from Facebook for a while if it gets you irritated.

It is. There are obviously cases that are different. Like if you're posting old pictures for you and your friends to remember the memories with them and such. I'm talking about the people who write messages on the person's wall as if they're talking to them, like I described in the OP.

The worst are the people who rush to tag the dead person's relatives and close friends in a post expressing their sympathy before the family has had a chance to inform family members and actual friends of the death.

I gave my best friend my password so if I die, he can log on and answer those post for me as if from the afterlife. He has a great sense of humor so it should be marvelous.

Not having FB, I am not annoyed by this type of maudlin narcissism. Disconnect bro - it helps you connect.

I wish someone other than me would. It always makes me smile a little when I go by his grave and see that someone left something other than me. It reminds me that he isn't forgotten. Reminds me that he lives on in many hearts.
People grieve differently.

I don't care what other people do when it doesn't effect me.
