Heyman is saying that as a work.
Everyone knows Heenan is #1..

A manager of something not real?

John Y. at Canes #2 in the early 2000s is up there.

Agree. Would be like Belichick claiming to have one of the greatest coaching runs in the NFL. Silly since it is predetermined, but still entertainment just like wrestling.

I think Mike Lindel was not only the greatest pillow salesman of all time, but he was also the greatest manager of all time

I think most fans would agree that Bobby Heenan was unquestionably the greatest manager that ever lived by a country mile.

Even Cornette would say it’s the brain.

Onscreen manager of wrestlers, yes he could possibly be.
Offscreen manager of wrestlers, absolutely not.

Which raises a good point - what does an on screen manager of wrestlers really do? Never really thought about that.

1. Michael PS Hayes (was basically a manager of the freebirds. Did very little work in the ring.
2. JAMES E. CORNETTE could get heat anywhere anytime. He could get your grandmother heat at a church picnic.
3. SKANDAR AKBAR
4. BOBBY HEENAN (better as an announcer than a manager but still one of the best.
5. Jimmy Hart. Took multiple groups to the top and always new how to get heat.

And I was going to say the Mouth of the South would be in the running.

in the old days, wrestling made all its money off of tickets sold and the gimmick table at the events. The TV was largely regional / local and was just a commercial to get folks to buy tickets to the live events.
A great manager pissed off fans enough with his mouth or interference to get them to buy tickets to live events to maybe see him get his arse kicked / head shaved / put in a dress.
