He was a pioneer in putting together contemporary news and politics in a televangelism tv show. He was big into geopolitics and putting up maps. His father was a US Senator for Virginia. What he did is what EWTN does now. Putting news and religion together. He was a fan of Mother Angelica and had her on his show and he influenced her and EWTN.

I give Robertson credit in that he was opposed to antisemitism and did not rail against Roman Catholics. He genuinely seemed to be opposed to racism and religious bigotry.

Back when you had only 12 channels on cable tv it was easy to catch the 700 Club on CBN. I look back now and laugh at how he hated heavy metal music and how The Masters of the Universe, Star Wars, and other toys and tv shows were Satanic.

True story. One of my friends when he was about 12 came home from school one day and his mom said, "Good news, son. I've burned all of your records and star wars toys because they are satanic." She literally became a born again Christian when he was at school and she was watching Pat on the 700 Club.

That's how you wind up in the shittiest assisted living facility in town when you're older.

Wasn’t he the one that also blamed Hurricane Katrina on gays? I don’t really pay attention to televangelists so it may have been a different one. They all suck and make a mockery if religion.

Ol Pat's net worth was only a 100 million when he kicked the bucket. He did pretty pretty well pick pocketing the seniors and gullible I'd say

He was no different from Peter Popoff. Popoff had those 3 AM televangelist shows where he said his miracle spring water could cure your cancer, illness, or relieve your debt. All of them are frauds.

Fun fact about Pat Robertson: He leg pressed 2000 pounds at 73 years old.

... If you count moving the load 3 inches as "leg pressing"

Bob Tilton is still the standard bearer for slimy TV preachers. Including his $1,000 “vows” to absolve sins of people including the elderly and mentally challenged. Was pulling $80M a year at one point.

Many of the devil’s favorite tricks involve faith itself.

That he was, and people are just piling on and lumping him in with actual real life charlatans, and he wasn’t.

Here’s a little snippet of his life to chew on LINK

From founding Operation Blessing which has been all over the globe, and continues to in order to do actual charity work and spread the gospel through shinning the light of Christ in deed, to founding the ACLJ which has fought, and also continues to fight religious persecution and injustices here in this country, Regent University, and of course the 700 Club, that has spread the message of the Good News of the Gospel to millions across the world, it’s always been about Jesus.

Of course it takes money to operate on this level, but it’s not the money that has ever been at the center of this. It’s has always been Jesus, and it continues to be, so if that offends, fine, but let’s be fair about it.

His Father, A. Willis Robertson, was one of the US Senators from Virginia, back when the Senators weren't on the make.
