Having a newborn in August and we have a wedding to go to that is out of the country in October. Obviously we are bringing him to the wedding. Anyone have any experience with getting a passport that soon after birth? The passport website and their office was no help. Any information would be most appreciated.

You're traveling internationally with a 2 month old? That seems to be a bit much.

Put the baby in his car seat, get a white sheet and place it behind the baby’s head to take the picture

Bring all required docs to the passport application center and apply for passport

That’s why kids’ passports are only good for 5 years bc they change

I don’t think I’ll have a birth certificate in time to get the required documents in time to it expedited. That’s my wife’s main concern with getting it.

Go to the vital records agency for your area if you do not receive anything within a few weeks of his birth

Or a verified birth letter from the hospital may work

Not sure about getting one for a baby that young. We got my son's around age 1 and it was good for 5 years.

International destination wedding coming off a pandemic can’t be easy to plan, and puts a burden on a lot of people.

My passport is in renewal hell right now. I’ll be lucky to get it back by October. You better hope your wife changes her mind once she’s actually dealing with an infant, and realizes staying home is a wiser decision.
