I hear ya.
Nasal aspirator! AKA Snot-Sucker, they will cry a little but settle down quick and will breathe so much better. You can use a few drops of sterile saline to loosen it up if necessary.

We're first time parents of an infant, but not super freaking out. Wife is a nurse and usually has her head on straight about that kind of stuff. On my own, would have probably been to the ER by the first cry like an idiot.

No, there's not. Sounds like an ear infection. My 1 year old is fighting one now. See's an ENT Wednesday.

That is awesome. Our little guy is in daycare, which means he was sick every couple of weeks all winter..... it was aweful. I am told it is better for building immunity, but all I know is that is sucks arse for him and us right now.

Luckily we have gone 7 months with no sicknesses other than the snot/sinuses.
My battle now is my kid not being able to shite anything other than concrete and it kills me when she turns purple straining and screaming all night.

our daughter has always had struggles with crapping as well
we had to help her a few times when she was really little with a thermometer up the butt...
she was so backed up one time that as soon as I touched her with the thermometer, she shot crap across the room like a water hose

a dead baby
I had a daughter still born a few years ago.
Definitely the hardest thing I've ever been through, and I've been through some pretty bad stuff.
That being said, we have a toddler now, and when she was a new born my wife was taking medicine to increase her breast milk, turns out the stuff was being used as an anti psychotic when it was discovered to help with breast milk production, had some nasty side affects, wife ended up bed ridden for 3 days, wouldn't eat, didn't even want to see her child. I made her stop the medication and then had to keep her and the baby alive until she snapped out of it a few days later. That was as bad as it gets, wife still can't explain it, that stuff just completely scrambled her brain.

Poor kid. Have you tired one of these with mashed up prunes in it?
It may help

prunes
That seems to be the trick.
Yesterday doc said prunes/carrots, nothing else. 2tsp mirilax in bottle if the food doesnt help. Im ready for an out the diaper, up the back blowout. Never in my life did I think I would ever look forward to a huge baby shite
ETA: Darth, will definately check that out.
Salmon,
We have used the glycerin suppository twice, and it gets it out but still hard.

Agree, nothing worse. And, considering that babies are obligatory nose breathers, a stuffy nose is not good. Lying flat makes the stuffiness worse too. It can be helpful to elevate the bed or mattress at the head level. When doing this baby will need a speed bump to keep from slipping down. A twisted sheet between baby's legs with ends tucked under the mattress works well as a speed bump.
Important: pediatrician should be consulted before using any over the counter medications! If doc orders Ocean saline nasal spray don't use that one. It has alcohol in it and burns like hell (may have been changed, read the ingredients). AYR has no alcohol. Hope baby is better soon.

Good hand washing is the first line of defense from a stomach bug. The bugs that cause that are not transmitted through the air.

In a house with 6, shite happens regardless of how well you wash your hands.

Dumb and tardy.
Wife brought the little guy by just now. Still some crustys in the eyes and nose, but he was smiling and talking up a storm. So that made me feel better.

The only thing worse than a sick baby is a sick mom and baby at the same time. But sterilizing the commonly touched places around the house and your childs favorite chew toys will help. My daughter kept getting sick with just common colds so I went germaphobe on the house haha Lysoled the door knobs, light switches, keys, remotes, sinks, faucets, cabinet door edges, handles, and washed off her teething toys and we havent had a problem since. I do that about once every few weeks now just to keep it up to par.
ETA: Do get a Nose Frida!!! That thing is a life saver. My wife bought it at first and I thought "this looks dumb" but boy does it work and fast. My daughter would holler when we used it but as soon as she noticed she could breathe again, she was back to her happy smiling self. Do buy one or two. That is up there with a wipe warmer as a top 5 baby purchase we made.
