Parents Branded "Cruel" For Not Aborting Disfigured Daughter

A father born with a severe facial disfigurement has defended his decision to have a baby daughter with the same rare condition, after neighbours branded him 'cruel'.
Simon Moore suffers Treacher Collins syndrome.
The condition affects just one in 50,000 births and is characterised by craniofacial disfigurements, including the absence of cheekbones.
The 30-year-old is also profoundly deaf and spent much of his childhood hiding indoors to escape bullies who taunted him.
Still to this day, he has to deal with strangers pointing and staring at him in the street.
But despite his own ordeal, he and his wife Vicky, decided to keep their baby girl when scans revealed she too, had the condition.
What say the OT?

So killing a person is less cruel than birthing a child. Got it.

So it sounds like he was able to gain valuable employment, get married, and start a family? What a terrible life trajectory for his child....

Good for them.
And had they abort the pregnancy I would also say "Good for them."
Let them do what the frick they want for their families.

Depending on the birth defect I could agree that aborting is less cruel. I'm not in favor of abortion on demand but in cases of severe birth defects, rape, and if the mother's life is in danger I take exception.

Am I horrible person for immediately thinking the daughter looks like Elena Kagan?
Anyway, happy looking kid. I'm sure she's appreciative of her parent's choice.

She's obviously got some disfigurement that would draw unwanted attention, but I agree, she's a cute baby

frick man, someobody needs to stop them then. Can't have some random person running around branding people with the word cruel. Or were the parents in a black fraternity?
