Curious...how do y'all feel about taking paid sick days if you're not sick? We get 10 sick days to use if needed, I don't use them unless I'm actually sick. Most of my co-workers give me shite for it. They look at it as 2 extra weeks vacation....hell, we already get 7 weeks paid vacation without it! I guess it's because I know my dad would look down on me He's an old school paper mill retiree.

I have taken them if my kid was sick and needed to go to the doctor.

The only time I used then without someone being sick was when we were going through a reorg and my job was cut. Used all my sick time to take a vacation because it wasn't being paid out.

I'll use them if I need a day off for Dr. appointments or something like that. A lot of places just categorize them both as PTO.

Nothing wrong with a mental health day on occasion.

No, I'll use them if I'm sick. Used a week last year for the flu. It's just that most of the crew abuse it for hunting and staying home its too cold. Trust me, I don't go to work if i feel like arse.

Congrats to you for not being a p***y.

Seriously, I have never had an employee take LESS than every possible paid day off each year. They even take more unpaid time off each year.

Of course, I get to hear the complaints of not having enough money all the time.

No work ethic for most people.

frick yea, always take advantage of easy money. Don't be a pussy! What do you do to get 7 weeks of paid vacation though. Are you like a veteran UPS driver or what?

Had a buddy who took several "sick" days. Got caught by his boss at lunch and was promptly relieved of his duties. If you're going to take a sick day, don't be a moron and go out where you could be seen. I have no sympathy for people who get caught.

7 weeks vacation plus 2 weeks sick time? You live in Europe or something?

I've heard the "Some countries in Europe make it illegal to work 40 hours."

I laugh at people who think 40 hours is a lot for a week

We get 5 days. I use them regardless. I hardly ever get sick. Why should I leave them unused. If my company would just make them personal days, everything would be fine. They don't. So I use them when I'm not sick.

Just use them, most adults don't get sick enough to call into work, yet sick days are still taken

Don't know that I've ever been sick enough to actually have to call in.

For reference I also ate Popeyes for lunch that my dumbass left out overnight...

I go to work when I'm sick and save my "sick days" to hunt & fish.

There's nothing worse than the guy who goes to work sick coughing and sneezing all over the office getting everyone sick.
