Look if you don't prefer über don't use it. But for a city to try to block it because of pressure from existing transit lobbies and fear of losing DUI revenue is corrupt and cowardly.

One is illegal because it's a public danger, the other is illegal because cabbies don't like competition. Not quite the same thing.
