When you bring in kids who can’t read, I’m shocked at this development

Who here is talking about before the GI bill? They are talking about last decade when ACT/SAT scores counted. You seem rather emotional about this, Sally.

this specific example essentially never existed. for people obsessed with “teaching real history”, you seem hellbent on the most childish version of revisionism

So I think the board is in agreement that the remedial math classes weren't filled with a bunch of Nguyens and Chens?

The fear of competition based on merit is sooooo overwhelmingly strong in the anit DEI crowd...and the reason is abundantly clear....they can't compete on merit and must rely on connections and biases and fear and ignorance or they find themselves mired in middle management and eking out a living from the hard scrabble dirt that is corporate America....sad

Impressive melt grandpaw, but you accidentally argued against your own point.

Standardized tests are one of the few admissions tools that don’t care who your parents are, what school board approved your inflated GPA, or how poetic your essay about “overcoming adversity as a BIPOC” was. A math score is a math score.

The UC STEM faculty aren’t asking to bring back aristocracy. They’re asking whether a kid applying for STEM can actually do the math required for STEM. You hate it, I know, we all know.

I’ve never understood how college algebra is a thing.

At a minimum, every K-12 system in the country should produce grads who pass algebra.

There is a reason using a combo of standardized tests scores in addition to gpa worked before all this foolishness.

Good GPA can be gotten at a dumb school or one with too much grade inflation.

Dumb people can't get a good standardized test score.

A good test score with average grades can identify a smart person that is otherwise lazy.

The test/grade combo is the best method we have
