Oven is overheating, anything I can do to fix it?

My oven just started getting way too hot, even at a low setting. It burned dinner tonight at 300 degrees. Is there anything I could try to recalibrate it? Seems like perfect timing for this to happen
Thanks and happy holidays!

Go to Walmart and get an oven thermometer.

Just cook for shorter periods of time.
Problem solved.

Go to YouTube and search for your model and problem and do whatever the man says.

Oddly, this is a problem that well could result in that.

My oven runs about 50 degrees hotter than the temperature I set it at. I just have a thermometer in the oven, and set the temperature 50 degrees below my target temp.
Problem solved.
But I'm not an OT baller, so I can't afford to just replace the oven. Plus, I bought it for like $50 from a guy.

Turn off the breaker to it and see if it will reset

If it's not a new fancy one....replace the thermostat.
Cheap, easy fix.
Member to unplug/ turn off breaker.

Do you have a self-cleaning setting on your oven?

This seemed to do the trick. Thanks bro!

My Whirlpool Gold oven started doing this intermittently about a year ago. Damn thing was only five years old. Resetting would work until it inevitably happened again some weeks later. Was told it was either the thermostat or a computer board. Best case $250 to fix, worst case $400.
Thought it over and decided to simply buy a new one. Consumer Reports Best Buy rated LG for $450 installed.

quote:this is correct. But then you have to adjust the knob/setting to match the temperature. There are plenty of youtube videos.
Go to Walmart and get an oven thermometer.
You need to put a large skillet or something else in the oven when you test the temp. There are 2 or 3 ways to adjust the temperature setting. Most oven knobs can be adjusted only up to 50 degrees. If it's off more than 50 degrees, you can get a knob at Home Depot that can be made to fit any temperature.
