BATON ROUGE - BRPD Chief Murphy Paul is reportedly delaying his exit from the department as the city's search for his replacement drags on.

Paul, who was set to officially vacate the position at the end of the week, will stick around until a new chief is named, a source told WBRZ.

As of Wednesday, the city-parish is still interviewing its more than 20 candidates.

Paul announced in July that he planned to leave the job on Nov. 3.

"When I took this job I prayed," Paul told Chief Investigator Chris Nakamoto at the time. "I prayed to take the job, and I had to pray to leave the job. It's a process and one I did not take lightly. A lot of prayer and thought went into it. It's time."

Broome has a history of making slow, bad appointments.

He has enough depositions, civil lawsuits, and civil service hearings to be around for the next couple of years.

Sounds like he’s not going to be running his mouth once November 8th gets here after all.

He was a worthless empty uniform. Only our worthless mayor could hire someone worse. It’s coming I’m sure.

Could be better too. It’ll probably be Broom again for 4 more years when election time rolls around.

The Mayor can’t find a replacement despite the advance notice, I am not surprised.

We’re talking about a Mayor that was a career local politician and she couldn’t find ONE person locally to serve as her Deputy Mayor-Chief of Staff.

Same Mayor that later hired a guy that had a pirate earring in his headshot, lied about his education on his submitted resume, and was fired from two previous municipalities, the largest being the town of Walla Walla.

Never underestimate this leadership’s ability to frick up everything. And by everything, I mean EVERYTHING,

Why is this POS involved in appointing the new Chief ? He was a Bad hire as was the people that hired the mayor. BTR has entered the FAFO zone. There is no saving BTR. It’s time for the “refugees” to stand up.

Y'all joke, but if Thomas Glover gets the job, you'll be begging for Paul to come back.

What that tells me is that you had white candidates crush the interview and are very qualified.

SWB and Paul do not want that so they will use words like we are trying to find the right fit for the job

She’s got an easy record to run against.

Record number of homicides.
Huge Fentanyl problem.
Huge homeless problem.
The storm water debacle.
The parish reliance on a little old lady to pick up trash.
The Brave Cave she didn’t know about.
St George
Decline of Downtown.
Floods.
Gangs.

3 current/former heads of the NAACP are on the search committee.

Sharon’s not making this pick; the NAACP is.

The photo of the search committee was not unlike a pussy hat march.

Original thread on committee.

Next chief could possibly serve less than a year. Need to focus on who’s gonna run against her next fall. I sure as frick hope it’s not that midget Piazza. If Tara Wicker has her taxes straight, she could have a decent shot, imo.

They will find a pet judge to toss her one way or another.

If she runs, SWB may have trouble making the runoff.
