I’m looking for one that can warm a decent size patio.

Preferably electric…

Thanks in advance for the help!

Go with a large propane one for about a hundred bucks

neighbor bought a new one at Costco and it burnt her house down. True story. Be cautious.

This. They put out serious heat.

If you get one like Free posted, be sure to hide it on windy days. They don't look so pretty after they fall a couple times.

Better yet, don't leave it sitting around without a propane bottle in it either.

Ask me how I know.

The other weakness of it is that it's relatively tall, and of course the heat goes up.

I'm in the market for a shorter version of it of some sort.

Electric would be tough for an outdoor area. Build a fire pit if you’re able to

They make a table top version. Don’t know how small you’re looking for

We should all be so lucky.

Does she have the receipt? And did she buy an extended warranty?

If you're within about 3 feet of it.

Can’t go wrong with the BawHeat1000.

Wind catcher. I like them, but you've got to be sure not to leave them out in any kind of wind.

Unscrew the top metal sheet as well, they fold easily if laid down and the weight goes on them

This one works pretty well, is super cheap, and has an excellent track record for effective heating.

I have one and I'm taking it back. The propane bottle that fit in them freeze up after 10min maybe 15min max because the bottles aren't large enough to displace the cold fast enough. Inside packaging it states this which I found after I assembled. they recommend getting a 20# tank and run a extension hose to it which, IMO, ruins the entire premise of having the smaller table top version.

No experience with the larger tall ones.

We bought a wood burning metal fire pit this weekend. Fortunately, we have access to over 5+ cords of wood that we have already split and another 4 or so that we are still drying the cut logs waiting to split at my parents farm house. Hate having to buy wood to burn but i will, only until I can get back to farm to bring back a load.

Anyways, point of post is to let everyone know the table top ones, while seem great and do work, the bottles will freeze up in 15min or less making them useless for heating any area for a sustained amount of time.

Find a band of hobos and ask how they do it.

Find yourself one of these in good, working order. Get the bigger one if you can.

Not unless you have some serious electrical power available, like a dedicated 240V subpanel. No, your best bet is a radiant propane or NG heater. Maybe more than one depending on how much area you want to cover.
