Find an Attorney that is in private practice near the Court House in the County Seat. Give the attorney a call and see what can be done. I was clocked at about the same speed in a Southern State about 12 years ago. Paid an Attorney about $350 and it disappeared.

Yes, did this with my last ticket. You can only do it once every 12 months. I called the Asst. D.A. for the 2 prior tickets and had them reduced over the phone, when I call with the 3rd ticket in 3 months she made me take defensive driving...

paying a speeding ticket if you live in another state?

I got a speeding ticket in the middle of Shitstain, ND.

Called once I got back and they couldn't find a record (I was driving a rental)

I'll gladly have a bench warrant in that God-forsaken state. I'll never go back.

I got one south of San Antonio before going pretty fast. Called the number on ticket, Justice of the Peace let me pay $190 and get into deferral program( ticket was 180). As long as I didn't get another ticket in that county for 6 months it wouldn't go on my record or insurance, if I did then both tickets would go through.

Or call and see if you can negotiate the ticket down to a non-moving violation. They just want their money and sometimes they will work with you so that it doesn't affect your insurance. Can't hurt to ask. If they say no, then what 20legend said:

Do yall realize a warrent in another state is grounds for detaining you in any other state?

There is this new invention called the internet that is used to search records

Stop being so trashy and just set your cruise control somewhere near 70, save money in the process from not getting tickets and make the roads a safer place

A speeding ticket on a city street or small local highway is one thing where you may not know the speed limit, but getting one on the interstate is stupid.

I doubt they would pay to have someone extradited across the country for a $200 ticket.

Yep. Rear facing radar using same lane mode. They do the same thing with the front radar from behind you. Got nabbed a few years ago by LSP from behind using same lane I/O. My V1 was basically a ticket notifier.

They might not, but i dont want to explain to a judge why i have a warrent after sitting in jail for a couple days.

I would rather just pay the ticket

I was in cruise control...doing 86.

This was a Friday evening and I was on my way to a hotel outside of Houston. I was trying to get there before midnight.

I've thought about that in the past. My grandfather travels a lot out of state and has a pretty good one.

At this point it seems like a good investment.

Not sure how much a radar detector would help considering your dumbass actually saw the cop. Not many cop cars out there without radar champ

Apparently you haven't driven in Texas often, it's 85MPH or get your arse ran over. Heck, west of Houston you better be going faster than that...

This. If conditions are decent anyone should be able to drive 85 perfectly safely on an interstate with free-flowing traffic.

That said, to the OP states share information all the time now. Next time you get stopped in LA you just might get carted off. Not worth it.

Mr. saint amant steve,

I found this on the internet you may can give it a go. Probably won't work, but you can at least try.

"Calibration Record Evidence

The quickest way to challenge radar gun evidence is to introduce the calibration records for the device that measured your speed into evidence in court. If the device wasn’t calibrated within the required timeframe, or wasn’t calibrated correctly, you can argue that the judge should dismiss your ticket for speeding.

Some officers may erroneously believe that they can calibrate the radar gun without using the tuning fork, so always ask whether they did in fact use the fork during calibration. If they did not, it opens up another opportunity for you to argue that the ticket is based on false evidence and should be dismissed.

Radar, LIDAR Training

Most states also require officers using radar or LIDAR technology to go through approved and certified training programs before operating the devices, so check to see if the officer who issued your ticket had the required training. If not, you can argue that the elevated reading occurred as a result of operator error, and not because you were actually speeding.

None of these arguments will automatically result in the dismissal of your ticket. If you know for a fact that you weren’t speeding, however, you don’t have to pay the ticket just because the police officer’s radar gun showed that you had exceeded the speed limit. Radar guns are not infallible, and they can provide incorrect information if not operated or maintained correctly."

I personally don't think 85 is all that fast in the fast lane of a three lane highway. People on here are grandpa/grandmas if they think no one goes 85 (highway traffic congestion permitting) in the fast lane. If you're going to speed you need to be constantly checking for cops on the side of the roads and in front as well as behind you. Now you know cops have radar on the back of their cars. You live, you learn.

Good day, sir.

I called the police dept. up there (well my ex/then wife did so when we got back) and they said there was no record of a ticket with my name on it.

Unless she wanted me to get arrested.
