Our tort law system is the worst aspect of America, a cancer on our society.

And I say this as a guy who has fed his family off this system for 25 years, so I suppose I'm complicit in it.

Personal injury lawyers are sleazy, sure. Steve Fckn Debosier was just on my TV saying "I want my kids to be proud of what I do." (LOL) But these guys aren't really lawyers. They are entrepreneurs. Businessmen taking advantage of a corrupt system that makes them rich and redistributes income via insurance companies. They are many in this state, and they assumed the reins of power in the legislature many years ago, greasing the skids to make themselves and their brethren richer.

I literally hate what I do.

If a lawyer doesn't have a business plan, he/she will fail.

Hey RB

Monitoring your police scanner for accidents? Or do you get clients the old fashioned way, with runners?

If you think tort law is awful, imagine what insurance companies would do to the average person without PI lawyers. Sure there are scumbags, but even the scumbags are better for society than your big-time insurance folks who deny coverage for life saving treatments, work-related accidents or fight cases against the indigent and their decent, idealistic attorneys solely because they can outspend a Plaintiff until the lawyer goes bankrupt or they force a settlement far below what it should be.

What a fricking crock of shite.

Imagine how robust our economy would be if businesses (large and small) didn't have to spend a third of their budget on liability insurance. More in states like La.

Imagine how much more affordable insurance would be if everyone doesnt see minor fender bender as giant dollar signs and end up with $700 in damage to their vehicle but insurance ends up paying out $15k in "injury" claims because they said their neck/back hurt

Is this Beall & Thies? I remember the call Billy signs on Nicholson. They need to pick a specialty and stick with it. What a bunch of hacks.

Based on your posts, one would think every Plaintiff's lawyer puts his name on a billboard. Most of us don't. In fact, over 90% of us don't, but you act as if everybody who practices tort law acts like the buffoons who put their faces on billboards.

Most of us don't take every case that comes to us where someone is hurt. Most of us don't take cases where the person's injuries and suffering aren't documented and verified by medical records or wage statements.

I don't apologize for suing someone because my client has actual and verifiable injuries and the insurance companies pre-suit settlement offer doesn't even pay my client's medical bills.

People who are actually injured by negligent or reckless conduct shouldn't be denied compensation simply because it's bad for business. Human beings should matter more than profit.

I understand your frustration though. Mine stems from dealing with arseholes all day, from clients to adjusters to lawyers. We can be civil to each other and disagree.

Never used either. Just tried to do decent work for people that need it and to do the job right. Old Fashioned approach and it sure isn't gonna make the richest guy in town, but I sleep great at night and make a decent living.

Look, I'm with you. I hate advertising. I hate the injury mills. I had lunch with a quality physician last week who was telling me he gets calls from lawyers who try to manage the healthcare of the patient. I encouraged him to stand firm and tell the lawyers how it really is. Some of these injury mills have polluted the reputation of the profession and have made it hard for people to reach out to the tort system when needed.

Everyone has to make their own decision on how they do their job. I cannot control others, nor can you. You can only control what you do. You do have me at a disadvantage.....but give me a call. Let's go grab drinks after work and chat. It is a topic I do enjoy talking about.

For every one of those, there is one where Allstate denies a very legit claim.

Don't worry, pearl clutchers, it's all going away in your lifetimes as tech advances.

And not the Criminal Law System, that for a century and a half has singled out one segment of society for disproportionately more arrests, harsher penalties, and longer sentences by far than others?

A system that kills innocent men and women?

A system that can take your property even though you may not even be charged with a crime?

Yeah, lawsuits are the worst part of society.
