Re: Labs. My 6 yr old is 79 pounds and is fairly tall vs most Labs. He and a neighbors 120 pound Rotty met mid air, chest first in my front yard when the Rotty had pulled free from a stake in his back yard. After some quick snaps, whirling around, and tackling by both dogs, the Rotty ran back to his yard. Bruno surprised me with his strength that day. Anywho, CDSB!

Good dogs like yours are really special.

When I was a little kid and family was living in Tampa, FL we had a poodle, probably 50 pounds or so (he was a standard size).

Dad did a lot of overnight out of town work at the time, he was designing and overseeing construction of gas stations all over the south for one of the big oil companies. I woke one night to red lights flashing across my windows and voices in the living room while Dad was out of town.

Turns out someone tried to come through the front door about 2-3am and was met by Pepe the poodle. He turned and ran after Pepe tore him a new a-hole. Mom never let anyone talk bad about that dog after that.

If all three of the people involved agree that the pit was trying to attack your wife, they need to probably put that dog down. And I have a pit. It sounds like that one is dangerous as hell, and should definitely never be in public without a muzzle. That lady is a complete dumbass.

Story should have ended with the pit being taken back inside and put to sleep.

You never know what your dog is capable of doing until you see it happen...

Had my lab in my truck, dude approached my truck pissed off because he said I took his parking spot... As he got closer to the truck, I thought she was going to light his arse up, barking, growling with her hair all up on her haunches..

Dude couldn't back away fast enough... It surprised me because she's the sweetest dog ever...

Dogs are the best pets and it's not even close. There's a reason they are man's best friend

We took in a small mutt, poodle/cocker spaniel mix. Sweetest, friendliest dog you ever see. But the moment she felt one us was threaten by someone, she was ten feet tall and bullet proof. Had her for 12 years, had to put her down last November due to tumors.
Great dog

My vet always told me a Lab will not start a fight, but they'll sure finish one. Glad your wife is safe

This. A mixed pit locked onto my dog's neck while I was walking her on a harness/leash. I picked my dog up (about 30 lb.) to get her out of the fight and the damn pitt would not let go and was literally dangling in mid air still clamped down on my dog's neck. A neighbor came out of her house and helped and I carried my dog home to safety. The owner of the pitt could only say how sorry she was, show pictures of her cute dogs around the Christmas tree on Facebook and site that her dog had never done anything like that before. Moral of the story: frick pitts. I carry pepper spray now when I walk. Any loose dog that attacks my dog from now on is going to get a face full of it.

Everyone needs a dog. I've got a chocolate and yellow lab. They are great loyal dogs. Also great alarm systems and theft deterrents.

Had an outside cat at our restaurant in Slidell. Damn thing was like 22 years old when it passed. Anyways, there was a trailer park behind our property. Over the years I watched that cat beat the shite out of pits, dobermans, german shephards, etc over the years.

One of my neighbors has a cat that beats up dogs, but it doesn't ever mess with my Aussie (who used to be a terrible cat killer - now she just chases them off).

The cats seem to know what dogs to mess with and what dogs to avoid.
