I am shopping for a new watch. I don't have a set budget, or a set brand. Something will just really grab me and that is what I usually get.

Not sure I could buy a nice watch from an online retailer since most are not authorized dealers. Maybe a place like Tourneau would be OK.

Any places you like around BTR or NO, possibly even Houston (as I may be traveling there soon) as a good place to actually see them and try them on?

Looks like they aren't authorized retailers for most of what they sell though. That bothers me, unless you guys can tell me why it shouldn't bother me.

Got mine direct from Stowa in Germany, through their website. They build them once you buy it so there was a bit of a wait.

Yea, it may be grey market through jomas.

Laco, Nomos, Stowa...sell and service their own watches.

Which one? I love mine. I've even sent it back to have the case reconditioned and work done on it. They're really incredible.

Any authorized dealer is a safe bet. I don't trust those mall kiosk guys.

It may not be a huge issue if you aren't spending a lot of money, but wouldn't there be warranty issues buying from somewhere that isn't an authorized dealer?

That is what I would be worried about.

If you buy online you need to find out what the warranty is. Maybe there is a warranty and maybe there isn't. But don't buy from a gray dealer who removes the serial numbers. Don't buy that watch at all and it will be a great price. You won't be able to get it serviced or repaired.

Jomashop does have a third party warranty company they use. Lets say under a $1000 i woukd buy from Jomashop all day long. Over that then i want an authorized dealer.

Ive ordered Tissots from them with no issues.
